Had an epiphany just now I have 0 real contributions on this thread as everything I do is art of somebodies OC's. \:(

So I decided to make my own bat pony.

^ I want to make a story with Heartbeat meeting him, and actually being the first pony to befriend him.

Merry Moon Memorial.
Nuke's working on a story detailing that.
From what I understand, the batponies celebrate Luna and the night, similar to how the earthponies, unicorns, and pegasi celebrate Celestia and the day during the Summer Sun Celebration.
The batponies essentially send Luna letters and gifts thanking her for the night and the moon.
The festival itself is something similar to the Chinese moon festival, or the Day of the Dead in Mexico.

1. As I use both fruit bats and blood drinkers, I've created a special tasteless additive that I can mix with their food. It's partially magical and activates when it comes into contact with a bat's colon, giving off oxygen.
2. It depends on the bat being used, as the colon acts as a storage vessel for the oxygen. In terms of time, one fully-grown bat can usually produce around 30 minutes worth of oxygen.
3. Usually dependent on the area of the lake we're mining. The northern regions of the lake has a high concentration of low quality emeralds, whereas the western shallows have some nice diamonds.
On average, we harvest around 35-40 decent gems a day.
4. & 5. The bats get paid depending on how many moles of oxygen they can produce. The usual cut is around 20 bits a day. However, as the batfillies can't produce very much, I don't pay them. Instead I let them drink/eat as much as they want.
6. I pay them as often I get paid myself, as I have to pay to have the gems cut and polished and shipped to Central Distribution in Canterlot.
Once in Canterlot, the normal gems are first graded (magicality, lustre, purity etc.) and sold wholesale to merchants. So, in summary, our pay is chiefly dependent on the quality and number of gems we find. However, the percentage the bats receive is always the same. As stated previously, a bat with a decent sized colon will get 20 bits daily.
7. The device I've constructed can only be used by two bats at a time. This is purely due to the fact that I don't have the specialised equipment needed to alter the intensity of the magic crystals that regulate the power of the suction pump. This regulator keeps the oxygen at a high enough pressure to reach me on the lakebed, but it also prevents the pump from sucking too much and prolapsing the bat's butt.
